Nehru World School is looking for a Strategic Lead for Reading and Literacy to become part of our Senior Leadership Team.

 

As part of our Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Head, you will work closely with our Heads of School to establish a cross-school reading and literacy programme. Your responsibilities will include developing an aspirational literacy curriculum, delivering high-quality bespoke training to staff across subjects and age ranges, and leading the day-to-day operations of the programme. You will also contribute significantly to the strategy and impact of the programme within the wider organisation.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an established Senior Leader looking to develop their experience within a multi-school organisation, or for a younger leader ready for their next step up!

 

We are looking for a genuinely dynamic practitioner who will be able to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, drawing on the best of international curriculums and practice in developing reading and literacy.

  • To establish and provide leadership direction and management to ensure sustained development and improvement of reading and literacy programme at Healthy Planet Schools and Nehru World School.

  • To ensure the day-to-day operation of an aspirational reading and literacy programme at Healthy Planet Schools and Nehru World School. 

 

Reports to: Executive Head, Nehru World School

Leads: Language & Literacy mentors and teachers at Healthy Planet Schools and Nehru World School

Key Relationships:  Directors of Academics and Curriculum, Training and Research at Nehru World School

Responsibilities:

 

  • To establish, lead and further develop a bespoke reading and literacy programme at Healthy Planet Schools and Nehru World.

  • To provide clear organisational support and management of the reading and literacy programme.

  • To take overall responsibility for the progress and development of all learners’ reading and literacy development.

  • To monitor, evaluate and review the work of the reading and literacy team.

  • To plan and lead professional learning to continually improve the practice of the reading and literacy team.

  • To use data to inform reading and literacy intervention programmes.

  • To keep up to date with current developments in reading and literacy and lead continuous improvement.

  • To develop, lead and oversee innovative reading and literacy events to inspire a love for reading and literacy amongst learners.

  • To actively develop partnerships with parents and the wider community through developing a love for reading and leading unique events to promote reading and literacy development.

  • Promote a high standard to listening, speaking, reading and writing of English amongst colleagues.

  • To ensure all school policies and procedures are adhered to.
