
8th Debating Skills Workshop and Competition

Hosted by Nehru World School in collaboration with Aawaz Education Services
Preparation Guidelines: All participating students are required to thoroughly prepare all THREE given topics in advance. As sides will not be disclosed beforehand, preparation must include arguments both FOR and AGAINST each motion.
On the day of the debate, students will be assigned: The specific Topic they will speak on. The Side (FOR or AGAINST) they must represent.
Student Advisory:
Research facts, examples, and counter-arguments for all three topics. Practise organising ideas quickly. Be ready to adapt content confidently on the spot.
We extend our sincere thanks to all schools for the overwhelming response to the 8th Edition of Thoughts Inclusive – Debating Skills Workshop & Competition to be held on Friday, 19th December 2025, at Nehru World School. All available seats across the three categories have now been filled, and registrations are officially closed.
This edition is designed to help students develop critical thinking, structured argumentation, and public-speaking skills using the Modified World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) Format.
The event features a mandatory online workshop prior to the competition and a clear category-based structure to ensure fair and meaningful participation.
Event Details
📅 Date: Friday, 19th December 2025
⏰ Timing: 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
📍 Venue: Nehru World School, E Block, Shastri Nagar, Ghaziabad
👥 Team Size: 3 students (one team per school)
🎓 Eligible Grades: 6 to 12
💻 Mandatory Online Workshop: Thursday, 11th December 2025 at 5:30 p.m. (Google Meet)

Event Categories
A team may include students from any grade within the chosen category.

Category 1 – Juniors: Grades 6 & 7

Category 2 – Intermediates: Grades 8 & 9

Category 3 – Seniors: Grades 10, 11 & 12
The workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding of the WSDC format and the adapted version for the event. Each school is expected to prepare to debate both sides of their assigned topic, enhancing the spontaneity and depth of their arguments.
Pre-Event Workshop
All participating students and the designated SPOC teacher must attend the mandatory online workshop conducted one week before the event.
The workshop will:

Introduce the Modified WSDC Format

Explain debate structure, argumentation, and POIs

Reveal the three debate topics

Clarify judging criteria and event protocols
The same teacher (SPOC) must accompany the team on the event day.
Topics & Tournament Format
On the day of the tournament, any ONE of the three topics may be selected for debate (per category).
Teams must prepare all three topics for both Proposition and Opposition.

There is no participation fee for this event.

NWS students will participate; however, if an NWS student or team secures a winning position, that position will also be awarded to a participating school to uphold fairness.

Each school must designate one teacher as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and share their details in the registration form.

The same SPOC teacher must accompany the team on the event day.
For Schools Outside NCR
Travel support and financial assistance are available on request for outstation schools.
