The 41st Annual Production of NWS, Ghaziabad, Primary Wing, Grades 1 to 5 of Cambridge Curriculum showcased the play ‘Pinocchio’ with great zeal, fun and frolic, on Saturday, November 30, 2019. The programme commenced with the encouraging words of Ms. Susan Holmes, Head Teacher, NWS. She spoke about Annual Productions as another opportunity for students to refine their skill development as critical thinkers and problem solvers, who are creative and innovative and communicate and collaborate well together.
The highlights of the event had been the welcome song followed by the annual report reading by the students and the marvellous theatre performance.
‘PINOCCHIO’ depicted the story of a wood carved puppet named ‘Pinocchio’ who was turned into a boy on his parents wish. Pinocchio longs to be a real boy but has to prove that he is worthy of becoming one. He finds himself in many undesirable situations due to his habit of lying. Every time he would lie, his nose would grow longer because of which the blue fairy would threaten and warn to turn Pinocchio back into a wooden puppet. He faces many situations where he had to make a right choice on his conscience. Jiminy would always guide him. Pinocchio is known, far and wide as the puppet who strived to become a boy who learned to live up to the qualities required of a real boy-to be ‘brave, truthful and unselfish.’ The vibrancy with which the story was conceptualised through humour, energetic dance performances and props captivated the spectators. The parents were thrilled to see the blossoming talents of their children on stage.
Mr. Arunabh Singh, Director NWS motivated and appreciated the participants’
confidence and tremendous efforts. He stated that such unique performances make
us introspect and analyse in depth about the current scenario. This act was an eye
opener for the students, parents and the teachers, thus enhancing the entire teaching learning process.
