Response to the Coronavirus -  COVID 19

Dear Parents,

As you know, NWS takes the health and safety of our students and staff very seriously. To help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus infection, we request you and your children follow these general principles:

  • Wash your hands often – with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water aren’t available.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • If you feel unwell, stay at home and don’t attend work or school.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home.

  • If you’re worried about your symptoms, please consult your physician.

  • Avoid going to crowded places or assemblies of any kind.

  • Avoid shaking hands and sharing food.

These are the symptoms to look out for:

  • Cough

  • Difficulty in breathing

  • Fever, a temperature of 38 degrees C (100.4F) or higher

If anyone at home has flu like symptoms, please keep the child at home and refrain from sending him/her to School.

Additionally, parents are requested that in case you or any member of your family has recently travelled abroad, you need to isolate your child for a minimum period of one week. Ensure that you submit, to the school authorities, a letter from your physician at the end of that week, before the student re-joins the School.

We would also like to share this advisory link issued by The World Health Organisation.

We would like to inform you that these are the steps that the School is taking.

For parents, students and visitors

  • Parents are being refrained from sending their children to School, even with mild symptoms.

  • All visitors including parents will need to sanitise their hands before entering the School.

  • Sanitisers are present in all rooms and public areas and buses.

  • The hand washing ritual at School is being intensified.

  • Any children displaying symptoms of cold, cough and fever, will be isolated and the parents will be required to collect them.

  • Any special School events that require a large gathering of people will be cancelled.

For staff and the School building

  • All staff are being briefed regularly on how to deal with concerns with respect to health.

  • Regular deep cleans and fumigation according to WHO guidelines is being done.

  • Any staff displaying symptoms of cold, cough and fever, will be isolated and required to leave the premises.

Keep safe, stay healthy and with best regards,
