Beyond Academics

Creating a balanced student

Nehru World School is a community of teachers, students, staff and parents who are passionately dedicated to learning and cultivation of mind, body and spirit. We provide many opportunities and encouragement for students to explore and enhance their individuality and creativity in a truly international learning environment.

NWS complements a strong academic foundation with a rich selection of co-curricular activities designed to enhance a student's all round development and cultivate varied interests. The School's co-curricular programme provides many opportunities for students to get involved in arts, athletics, and clubs. Students are able to become involved in these activities through;
Curricular Integration – activities that are incorporated into the students' regular classroom learning.

Co-Curricular Activities – students are encouraged to participate in at least one co-curricular activity each week to ensure that their academic and creative interests are balanced and encouraged. We offer a varied programme of activities enabling students to participate in a range of activities throughout the year.

Inter School Competitions – throughout the year there are many competitions that are held among the different schools in the NCR. Our students participate in team based and individual competitions.

School Events

Parents and other members of the community are invited to witness a whole host of events showcasing the diverse talents of our students that feature regularly in our school calendar. Events that parents and students look forward to are the Annual Day celebrations, Science, Art and Craft Exhibitions, Sports Week, Debates and Quizzes along with a host of Inter House Competitions.

bulletSports & Games

Extending education beyond the confines of the classroom, the School cultivates values of team spirit, discipline and healthy competition through a variety of sports activities including skating, athletics, kho-kho, badminton, gymnastics, basketball, handball, physical fitness, chess, table tennis, cricket, volleyball & yoga.

The school offers a well-balanced programme of sports and physical education. On-campus facilities include an Indoor badminton court, national level basketball courts, and a swimming pool for the pre primary wing. Our facilities also include several dedicated activity areas for students across the School

bulletCreative Expression through Dramatics & Declamation

Students are encouraged to develop their public speaking and presentation skills through elocution, debates, school plays, and theatre. This training provides them an ideal opportunity and platform to not only discover and showcase their talents, but to instill self confidence and enhance individual character.

bulletArt & Crafts

To bring out creativity, curiosity and the power of imagination within a child, our students participate in a host of art and craft projects. Students are encouraged to explore their creative talent through a variety of mediums that includes clay, fabric, sand, paint, paper, and many others.

bulletMusic

Music is an integral part of the curriculum where our students have the opportunity to pursue instrumental and vocal music. Specialised training is provided.

bulletStudent Council

Students of classes 5th, 9th, 11th and 12th run the School Student Council which is the mainspring of school leadership. Through this council students discuss and deliberate on a host of issues relevant to their life at school and seek avenues to channelise their leadership potential in constructive ways.

bulletCommunity Service

Recognising the need to pay their debt to society, students are expected to participate in some form of social work. SUPW (Socially Useful and Productive Work) programmes help students develop a sense of service especially towards those less fortunate than themselves.

bulletPersonality Development

We demonstrate our commitment to each student's social, physical and emotional growth through our Life Skills program, an age-appropriate and developmentally focused sequence for Kindergarten classes through class 12. We inspire our students to become good public speakers and self-advocates, to have healthy bodies and body image, and to be empathic, effective communicators. We have developed a social and emotional support system that adapts to our students needs, and our full time Counselor and mentors are accessible to the students. NWS seeks to prepare its students to thrive, not merely to survive.

The Life Skills program offers tools for dealing with the stress of adolescence in the modern world. Its messages and methods are carried from the classrooms to each and every corner as framework for a universal atmosphere of respect and fairness.

A thorough and complex mix of programs and activities addresses the following major themes: self-esteem building, conflict resolution, goal setting, decision-making in social situations, effective communication skills, grooming and choice of appropriate careers. With the life skills programme, our students achieve a deeper understanding of themselves and other people..
